Clinical Training & Licensing Pathway for Junior Doctors
Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to practice as physicians in Poland after completing a 13-month postgraduate internship and successfully passing the State Medical Final Examination (LEK). Graduates who obtain a Polish medical license are also eligible to practice medicine in other European Union (EU) countries. This is in accordance with EU Directive 2005/36/EC, which ensures the recognition of professional qualifications across member states. However, the ability to practice in other EU countries may vary depending on each country’s specific regulations.
The legal framework for practicing medicine in Poland is governed by the Act of 5 December 1996 on the professions of physician and dentist (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2021, item 790, as amended).
